I like speed. I like it when I go to google and the page load is barely noticeable. I am not saying I achieved google speeds at FetLife this morning but FetLife should be running more smoothly now.
Has anyone ever complained to me about the speed in which FetLife loads before? Not at all. It is a me thing! :-)

The site has evolved a little bit over the last couple of days. Now, each user now can share their writing, be it a journal, erotica or just random notes with their friends and the rest of the community.
Details, give us details John, what does that mean to the site, what does that mean for us god dammit?

I used to respond to emails within a couple minutes of receiving them but I have to stop doing this because emails are getting in the way of me actually working on the site.
I decided that instead of spending, what seemed to be, most of my time apologizing for not having feature X or Y on FetLife that before 6 PM my day would be devoted to kicking some codes ass so that when I do respond to email at night I would have more good news then bad news for you guys.
Trust me, this has nothing to do with me not loving you guys anymore, because I do, I just came to the realization that you love me more for my feature set and not my witty banter! :-) God, I am such a geek.
Status: I have about 50 emails on FetLife waiting for my response. I will get to all of them hopefully tonight_
I get a hard on for people who write well… abby williams of The Little Red Schoolhouse and Naughty Abby gave me a big willy this morning. This is just a bit of what she had to say about us:
I once had a new co-worker tell me, “You should be on MySpace. Then I can be your friend!” I knew what she meant, but it did make me consider the merits of MySpace as a social tool, considering it really sounded like she was saying, “If you’re not on MySpace, we can’t be friends.”
Well, I finally have a comeback to that comment. “No, you should be on Fetlife, and then you can meet the real me!”

Last night at 2 AM, I am sitting in my bed surfing FetLife when I come across a new users profile that has dancing bunnies, flashing lights and a fireplace in her about section. Notify kinkster ad delete about section. Today, I come across an about section 5 pages long with big honking pictures and music playing in it. Notify kinkster and I am about to delete the about section if I do not hear from him in the next hour.
I spent the last five hours starring at my screen and hacking away on a solution that prevents HTML from being embedded in the site. Solution is live.
I feel relieved and sad all at the same time about my solution. I want to let people feel like they can express themselves but at the same time I can not let the experience of FetLife be degraded for the other users. So for now, we are not letting people use HTML tags. Maybe in the future we will be able to create a sandbox of sorts that let’s people be creative in them while not degrading the quality of the site for everyone else but for now we have to just say no to HTML tags!
For those who are curious… I friggn hate mySpace! :-)

I am at a cross-road and I am having problems making up my mind. I was hoping you might be able to help me by answering the following question:
If I was to only add one more feature to Fetlife, what would it be and why?
For gender we split trans into “Trans - Male to Female” and “Trans - Female to Male”.
For role we added Top, Bottom and Fetishist. We also came to the conclusion that we will have to add other eventually and allow people to write in what they want.
For D/s Relationship Status we added unowned and Protecting (opposite of under protection of). Unowned is like single but for the subs in D/s world!
Are we missing anything?

After a really great conversation with DevotedPhoenix, to be read she was the teacher and I the very studious student, she convinced me that I really need to re-think the choices we give kinksters or their gender, role (sexually) and sexual orientation.

Added Hetroflexible I love the term heteroflexible. There are the more official definitions of heteroflexible but I prefer the way I explain it. Heteroflexible to me is someone who will only date, marry and get into emotional relationships with someone of the opposite sex but if a someone of the same sex wants to give them head they won’t discriminate. Ok, it is more complicated then that but you get my drift.
Removed Bi-curious Bi-curious… what is bi-curious? Have you tried it or not? Bi-curious is less of what you are and more of a call out to tell people you want to experiment. Bi-curious, to me, is just a weird term. When I was 13 I was straight, was I ever with a girl? No. But I was straight because that is what best described how I was attracted to people. Put what you feel you are and not what you want to try for your sexual orientation. open for debate
Added Lesbian and Queer What can I say about this one other then I am sorry. I should of known better. In my life I have had a lot of gay male friends but never any lesbians or queer friends so I guess I just could not relate because of my limited life experiences. I hope to fix this though!
Removed Trisexual I had a choice and I made it. I decided to be correct instead of funny! One of the very few times I will choose correct over funny!

From the top right hand corner of every page on FetLife you have the ability to search through people, places and fetishes.
Unfortunately, I had to remove the home link from the navigation bar but I have an idea on how I can put it back. Hopefully I will get to put it back today.
